Description of Lite Rock

Lite Rock reveals the softer side of rock and pop. Combining the gentle elements of Easy Listening with the intimate feel of Singer-Songwriter music, Lite Rock features simple, melodic songs with elaborate production. Lite Rock came into its own in the 1970s, led by stations that played bands like Pablo Cruise, Boz Scaggs and Carly Simon. All of this was a precursor to the '80s Adult Contemporary radio format. But Lite Rock stations are out there to this day, playing everything from Air Supply to Basia.
