Roky Erickson

A slippery set of live tracks, outtakes and studio sessions from one of psychedelia's most notorious and well-respected songwriters. The majority of the songs sound like snarling, garage-inspired hard rock, with Erickson in great form across the board. "I Have Always Been Here Before" and "The Interpreter" are a few high points.

Live-and-studio outtakes for curiosity-seekers who believe maniacs are best appreciated in their natural surroundings. I say it proves maniacs need engineers, backup bands, and other accoutrements of civilization even more than the rest of us. (Grade - C+)
