Rhapsody

Roomful of Blues' debut sounds so darn confident and fully realized because the band had been die-hard club rats for 10 long years before stepping foot inside a studio with producers Doc Pomus and Joel Dorn. Now that's truly paying your dues. Reviving interest in horn-heavy jump blues when the music was on the verge of extinction, RoB sweats authenticity. Main man Duke Robillard growls, cries, moans, wails the blues, especially on the stunning ballad "Love Struck." Great Friday night jams.
