About
From deep in the loins of New York's Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, bandmember Russell Simins throws together a sticky collage of guitars, samples, and block-rockin' beats. On his solo project, this drummer steps from behind the kit and casts away the blues in favor of pelvis-grinding pop, a style he knows well from his days with the Honeymoon Killers. With a voice that sounds like Art Alexakis by way of Mark Arm, Simins jams on radio-friendly alternative hits one moment, then jumps out on the dancefloor the next. His eclectic mix offers more than energetic rock to keep the movers and breakers going. For all the ladies in the house, Simins offers a track giving advice on how to best pleasure your boyfriend. This is a guy who doesn't want to leave anything to chance.
