San Telmo Lounge

About

San Telmo Lounge was just a glimmer in guitarist Martin Delgado's eye when he returned to Buenos Aires from a stint in New York City. Having worked as a session musician in the U.S., he was intrigued by the idea of mingling electronica, tango and jazz and seeing what came out of it -- and San Telmo Lounge was born. San Telmo Lounge released their debut EP, McDougall Tango, in 2003; after bandoneon player Pablo Gaitan and various other musicians joined, the group followed the E.P. up with its first full-length, Madrugada En Backcelonia in 2005. Both albums used electronic effects to emphasize and exaggerate tango's natural drama. In 2008, they released Electrocardiotango, an album that saw them incorporating guitar more heavily and moving towards a jazzier, less edgy sound.
