This sophomore solo record from Scott Kelly is everything you would expect the deep-voiced Neurosis crooner to provide. With stripped and measured acoustic folk guitar accompaniment, Kelly's low, gravelly whispers evoke an Americana vibe with stark beauty and simplicity. Tracks like the twangy, poignant album opener "The Ladder in My Blood" and the down-tempo, emotive "In My World" will certainly pull on your heartstrings, but the album is more endearing than depressing.
