Scout Niblett

About

Some people call Scout Niblett the British Cat Power. Then again, Chan Marshall is sort of the British PJ Harvey, so we just like to call Niblett the queen of bleak, black indie rock. If hers doesn't sound like a kingdom you'd like to move to, well, allow us to confer another title upon Ms. Niblett: empress of insightful, intellectual and undeniably theatrical artistry. Case in point? Her name: born Emma Louise Niblett in Nottingham, England, the singer-songwriter took her stage name from a character in Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Starting in 2001, the newly christened Scout Niblett put out a series of EPs and three full-length albums on Secretly Canadian before moving to Beggars in 2005. She worked with legendary engineer Steve Albini on her last three albums, including 2007's This Fool Can Die Now, which included four duets with Bonnie "Prince" Billy.
