The Seldom Scene

Act 3, believe it or not, opens with a version of "Chim Chim Cher-ee" originally from Mary Poppins. Turning it into a haunting instrumental, the Seldom Scene prove that they can filter just about anything through their moody bluegrass aesthetic. And moody it is: hushed voices float over pinprick plucking. This music sounds as if it were recorded in a basement in the dead of night. Even breakdowns like "Hail to the Redskins" and "Rider," the old blues number, battle the encroaching darkness.
