The Seldom Scene

There's a reason they were called the Seldom Scene: the group made it a point to rarely play out. But even though the Maryland outfit preferred private jam sessions, they smoked when an audience was in front of them. Live at the Cellar Door, from 1975, is one of progressive bluegrass' legendary live sets. Clearly influenced by them hippies, the Seldom Scene pry open bluegrass' traditional structure using a combination of fiery improv and earthy atmospherics.
