Rhapsody

"R&B diva" is kind of an oxymoron in 2006. Backstage prima donnas undoubtedly exist, but their reserved vocals and minimalist records are cold as ice and, sadly, histrionics-free. Ludacris protege Shareefa, on the other hand, sounds more like she's from the Mary J. school of soul -- she's an unabashed melismatic mess who's not afraid to kick her man to the curb ("Cry No More"), then turn around and admit she "[cries] in the rain" for him ("U Told Me"). Even ice queen-esque lead single "Need a Boss" comes off deliciously desperate.
