Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra of Venezuela

If you read "youth" to imply mediocrity then you're off on the wrong foot already. Stop and listen. This Vibrant and thrilling collection of Latin American music (plus Bernstein's lively "Mambo.") is performed by the best of the best from a pool of over 200 youth orchestras throughout Venezuela. Musical director Gustavo Dudamel, himself a product of the Venezuelan music system, has achieved full superstardom while still shy of 30 years of age. Especially moving are excerpts from Ginastera's ballet "Estancia," which depicts a day in the life of rural Argentine ranchers.
