The lead guitarist for the Replacements in their final years, Slim Dunlap is a no-worries character who adheres to the school of laid-back Stones-y rock 'n' roll. His solo albums spotlight his songwriting skills and cigarette-worn vocals more than they do his guitar playing. While the material itself can be forgettable, there's a nice, casual feeling to it all, and he hits on occasional winners in songs like "Partners in Crime" and "The Ballad of the Opening Band."
