Slobberbone

People were calling the new Americana rock sound "insurgent country" long before Slobberbone unleashed their Texan tones of twangy terror on us. Probably more insurgent than any alt country act, this gang of guitar toughs crank it up and crunch it down, even on tear-jerking Gibb brothers' ballads like "To Love Somebody."

Their name is grossly distasteful, and Slobberbone retain the unrefined rawness and
blistering guitars that are trademarks of early Nineties alt-countrymen. However, the band
falls just short of its influences. Although produced by Don Smith (Bob Dylan, the Rolling
Stones), Slippage lacks the vocal harmonies that notched Uncle Tupelo and the Jayhawks
