Combining a myriad of seemingly conflicting noises and sounds, Smart Went Crazy create music that seamlessly ebbs and flows. Guitars emit woeful, discordant pangs while a soaring, atonal cello weaves its way through soothing vocal harmonies. Dig beneath the lovely curving melodies and you'll see the bitter side of this band. Passive-aggressive songs like "I Liked You Better When You Were Sick" are full of caustic lyrics (“I liked you better when you were weak and pathetic / Now that you're healthy, you're just kind of a dick / I liked you better sick”) cleverly hidden beneath beautiful music. The perfect way to tacitly agree with anyone who broke up with you with the crummy cop-out “It’s not you. It’s me.”
