Socratic

Less wild 'n' crazy than warm 'n' fuzzy, Socratic's cuddle rock makes for a darn likable band. This five-song EP is as fluffy and comfy as a down pillow, bouncing along over giddy piano, sunny guitar and singer Duane Okun's nice-guy vocals. Fortunately, he shows a sardonic lyrical bent that runs counter to the upbeat melodies of first-person narratives like "The Spanish Singer" and "Turn."
