Stephen Duffy

As he's probably sick of hearing, Stephen Duffy was an early member of Duran Duran who quit to go solo. His first single, "Kiss Me" (recorded under the name Tin Tin), was a club hit throughout the 1980s. He reprises the song here and then goes on to craft an album of teenage dance pop that's highlighted by distinctive songwriting and witty lyrics along with popping bass and cooing backing vocals. The countrified "The Darkest Hour" and the kitchen-sink '60s baroque pop of "The World at Large Alone" and "Wednesday Jones" steal the show and point the way to Duffy's future as an English folk troubadour.
