Strapping Fieldhands

In the Pineys appeared as a 10-inch ep in 1994, at the height of the GBV/Sebadoh-spawned lo-fi epidemic. That means this, recorded on a three track, is supposed to sound absolutely terrible (as it does). The idea is that the clattering guitars and cardboard box thumpety thump will set you free. The fact is, one listen to the monumental "Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)" (originally by Melanie) and you really will be set free. Also, nobody ever came as close to Syd Barret-era Floyd as the title cut and there is a song that crosses up sea shanties with mythology.
