Sun Ra

This record was recorded at New York's Town Hall in 1973 when the city was going through comet fever. The band zig-zags out of straightforward big band numbers and raw astral-themed funk before falling back into unadulterated, synthesizer madness. As the band (and the great vocalist June Tyson) tells you, "We open up the doors of the outer space employment agency."
