About
Globe-trotting beat programmer Luciano Supervielle may have been borne in France but his heart clearly belongs to the River Plate region of South America (the birthplace of tango). Part of Gustavo Santaolalla's groundbreaking 2002 Bajofondo Tango Club release, Supervielle dropped his solo debut in 2005. To call it a "solo" debut might be disingenuous: the album is full of collaborations with such rioplatense heavyweights as Adriana Varela, Daniel Melingo and Cristobal Repetto. He even brings in Montevideo-based rappers on "Miles De Pasajeros." Supervielle is as much a composer as programmer and it shows: his work is consistently inventive. The Gotan Project may have started it, but Supervielle is upping the ante considerably.
