Why am I being charged $10 when my purchase total is less than that?
The $10 you see is an authorization. Rhapsody authorizes your debit
or credit card for $10 to determine that the card is valid for purchases. It is
standard for online music stores to require an authorization before the first
purchase. If you decide not to buy anything, your credit card is not charged.
Note:
This $10 authorization is not a charge to your account. However, it does
reduce your available credit by $10 until your bank's next processing cycle.
Please contact your bank for more information on your processing cycle.
Additional authorizations you may see:
- Each day you visit Rhapsody or the Rhapsody MP3
Store and purchase your first track of the day, a $10 authorization is run
against the card that you have set up with your account. Your bank will
remove the authorization at the end of the business cycle. This cycle is
usually the end of the business day, but this varies from bank to bank.
Please contact your bank if you have questions about the length of the
authorization.
- If you do purchase over $10 of tracks or albums from Rhapsody or the Rhapsody MP3 Store, your credit card will be authorized for an additional $10.
