Rhapsody front page is blank

Why is the Rhapsody front page blank when I start it?

Sometimes when you start Rhapsody, the Music Guide page is blank. This can happen if Internet Explorer or your privacy settings need adjusting.

Solution 1: Close and restart Rhapsody.

The simplest workaround is to close and restart Rhapsody.

Solution 2: Upgrade Rhapsody.

  1. Launch and log in to Rhapsody.
  2. Select Help > Check for Updates from the Rhapsody Menus.
  3. If a new version is found, follow the prompts to update to the latest version of Rhapsody.

Solution 3: Remove and reinstall Rhapsody.

Follow these steps to completely remove and reinstall Rhapsody.

Solution 4: Disable privacy services

Your privacy service software may be blocking the Rhapsody Music Guide page. You will want to temporarily disable any privacy service software installed. Once disabled, try opening the web page http://rhapapp.real.com/rhapsody_pages/home. If successful, launch Rhapsody and the Rhapsody Music Guide should open.

You will want to contact your the privacy services support site for instructions on how to disable the privacy service. The most common privacy service software is McAfee Privacy Service (Usually packaged with the McAfee Security Center) and Norton Privacy Control (usually packaged with the Norton Internet Security):

Contact McAfee support at http://us.mcafee.com/root/support.asp
Contact Norton support at http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/

If you do not have McAfee or Norton, contact the software's support.

Solution 5: Add Rhapsody sites as trusted sites to Internet Explorer.

  1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the Tools menu, then choose Internet Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click the Trusted Sites icon.
  5. Click the Sites button. A new Trusted Sites window opens.
  6. Uncheck the box labeled Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.
  7. In the Add this Web site to the zone: box, type: listen.com and click the Add button.
  8. Repeat step 6 for real.com, llnwd.net, rhap://rhapapp.real.com, rhap://rhap-app-4-0.real.com, and rhapapp.real.com.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click the Privacy tab.
  11. Click the Sites button.
  12. In the Address of Web site: field, type: listen.com and click the Allow button.
  13. Repeat step 11 for real.com, llnwd.net, rhap://rhapapp.real.com, and rhapapp.real.com.
  14. Click OK to exit the Internet Options.

Launch Rhapsody and the Rhapsody Music Guide should load.

Solution 6: Reset Internet Explorer.
