ALERT: On Tuesday May 29th from 11pm-2am PST, we'll be performing important system maintenance. During this time, you may be unable to access the following, Rhapsody.com and Rhapsody Software, Rhapsody Mobile Apps for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry® and Windows® Phone 7 & Rhapsody compatible Home Audio Systems. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

How do I authorize my device?

Authorizing your portable MP3 player or device allows it to communicate with Rhapsody and to accept Rhapsody content.

If you have a Rhapsody Premier or Rhapsody Premier Plus (formerly Rhapsody To Go) subscription and a compatible portable device, your device will be authorized for use with your account during setup.

To authorize your portable device by hand:

  1. Open Rhapsody and sign in to your account.

  2. Attach your device to your computer, and wait to see the device appear in the Sources area.

  3. Right-click the device icon, and choose Authorize Device.

Note: Not seeing an Authorize Device option? Click here before proceeding.

  4. Make sure your device is licensed.

Your device should now be ready to work with Rhapsody 4.

To confirm that your portable device was authorized:

  1. Open and sign in to Rhapsody.
  2. From the Rhapsody Menus, choose My Account > Manage My Account.
  3. Sign in to your Rhapsody account:

  4. Click the Authorizations link at the left. From this screen, you see the authorized device and how many authorizations you have left.

How many portable devices can I have authorized?

  • If you have a Rhapsody Premier subscription, you can have one portable device authorized at any one time.

  • If you have a Rhapsody Premier Plus (or Rhapsody To Go) subscription, you can have up to three portable devices authorized at any one time.

A great advantage of Rhapsody 4 is that you can always manually reauthorize a portable device after you have deauthorized it, provided you have not reached your limit for authorized devices.

When would I authorize my portable device myself?

  • If you have a new portable device that you have never used with Rhapsody, you may need to authorize it after connection.

  • If you have previously deauthorized a device, and now you wish to use it to play secure Rhapsody content again, you need to reauthorize it.
