Transferring music to a portable device

How do I transfer music from Rhapsody 4 to my device or MP3 player?

The short answer:

To transfer, just connect your MP3 player or other device to your computer, and drag and drop tracks, albums, album cover images, and playlists from Rhapsody onto the device image in the Sources area of Rhapsody 4. You can transfer music to up to 3 portable devices on a single Rhapsody Premier Plus (formerly Rhapsody To Go) account, or to one portable device with a Rhapsody Premier account.

The long answer (with pictures!):

What you'll need

  • A Rhapsody Premier, Premier Plus, or Rhapsody To Go subscription (if you have Rhapsody Unlimited, you'll need to buy songs before transferring them--or you can upgrade to a Rhapsody Premier subscription which is just $9.99 a month)
  • A compatible device
    - Have an iPod? While purchased mp3 tracks can be transferred to an iPod, subscription tracks cannot.
    - Not sure if your player will work? To check if your device is authorized and compatible with Rhapsody, connect your device and sign into Rhapsody. From the toolbar at the top of the Rhapsody window, click Tools, then Device Compatibility Report.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open Rhapsody and sign in.
  2. Attach your device to your computer.
  3. After you see the device appear in the Sources area, drag and drop tracks onto the device icon.

The progress of your transfer is shown in the bar at the bottom of the Display area:

When the transfer is complete, right-click the device icon and choose Disconnect Device:

Note: If you get a Rhapsody was unable to disconnect your device error, use the Microsoft utility called Unplug or Eject Hardware or Safely Remove Hardware, visible in the lower-right corner of your computer screen.
