Some of the media I added to My Library from the Music Guide is missing. How do I get the songs or playlists to show up again?
Were the missing tracks originally imported from your hard drive?
If so, please use the file import wizard to add them to your Library again:
- Go to the Rhapsody File menu.
- Select Add Media to My Library. Be
sure to have Rhapsody search in the folder where you store your music.
Were the missing tracks or playlists saved directly from
Rhapsody?
When you save tracks and
playlists into My Library from the Rhapsody Music
Guide, a list of tracks and playlists is stored on
both the Rhapsody servers and your computer's hard drive.
Whenever you sign in
to Rhapsody, the Rhapsody servers compare the list of tracks and playlists on your computer with the list on
the servers, and then synchronize and update the list of tracks and playlists according to the contents of My
Library.
However, the list of tracks and playlists on your computer and the Rhapsody
servers sometimes get out of sync, causing your tracks or playlists to disappear from My Library. When you try to restore some of your tracks, Rhapsody may say there are no tracks to restore.
Solution 1: Run
dbclient
- You can manually resynchronize your library with the Rhapsody server by running the dbclient
tool in the Rhapsody folder:
- Open My Computer.
- In the C: drive, browse to Program Files.
- Open
the Rhapsody program file folder (usually named "Rhapsody").
- Double-click
the dbclient program in this folder (Vista users: right-click
dbclient and select Run As Administrator).
- When the "Success" dialog box appears, click OK.
- Start Rhapsody and sign back in.
Caution: When you run
dbclient, all information related to subscription tracks will be reset to its original state. Any
information that you changed on your subscription tracks (such as ratings and file name changes) will be
lost during this process.
Solution 2: Resynchronize from within
Rhapsody
If the problem persists after running dbclient, then
you may need to replace the missing files.
This
means that imported media including music, photos, and videos and any downloaded
Rhapsody tracks on the computer will need to be
re-imported when you sign back in to Rhapsody, and any playlists that contain
imported media will need to be recreated.
Caution:
After you resynchronize Rhapsody, all information related to imported media will
be reset to its original state. Any information that you changed in your media
(such as ratings and file name changes to media in your library) will be lost during this process.
Any media that
is imported from outside of Rhapsody and is stored on the hard drive in your
computer is not saved on the Rhapsody server. Therefore, resynchronizing with
the server will not restore this media.
Note: Playlists that contain local
tracks will need to be recreated manually.
To resynchronize your Library with the
Rhapsody server:
- Open Rhapsody.
- While holding down the CTRL and
SHIFT keys, select the Tools menu.
- Select
Backup and Reset Application Data Directory.
- Click Yes when prompted to continue.
- Reopen
Rhapsody.
You can also do this manually:
- Close Rhapsody.
- Click the Start button and select Run. (Vista
users: click the Start menu, then click Start
Search.)
- Type %appdata% (including the percent
signs) in the text box, then press Enter on your keyboard.
- Open the Real folder.
- Right-click the Rhapsody folder and select
Rename.
- Rename this folder "RhapsodyOLD".
- Start
Rhapsody and sign in.
- On the File menu, click Add tracks to My Library to re-import your Rhapsody music.
Your Library should now be recreated and resynchronized with the Rhapsody server.
