Susannah McCorkle

McCorkle released a string of superb albums on Concord, but this one ranks among her best. Many of the selections are tributes to her musical heroes, including Ray Charles, Django Reinhardt, Chet Baker, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and, of course, Billie Holiday. Heartfelt, sometimes heartbreaking, and always good-humored, McCorkle's phrasing is better than ever. Just lovely.
