This compilation -- which contains a smattering of singles and rarities – focuses of Swell Maps' pop tunes, and boy, were they one of the greatest rock bands the UK has ever produced. No lie. Dig the jammer "Ripped & Torn" – that's science class nerds raised on surf and prog, grooving like vintage Stones. Most of this stuff has been released before, but when it's this good – like the stuttering psychedelic chug-a-lug that is "Vertical Slum" – there's no such thing as overkill.
