Taking Back Sunday

The loss of co-songwriter and guitarist Fred Mascherino and addition of guitarist Matthew Fazzi makes Taking Back Sunday's fourth studio record a collection of broader, reverb-rich rock songs. The band waxes anthemic and evokes the Foo Fighters on tracks like "Lonely, Lonely" and Ric Ocasek on "Sink Into Me." But Taking Back Sunday are at their best when they return to the formula of swelling guitars and hooky choruses, as on the undeniably catchy "Capital M-E."

by an emo-pop band that the Foo Fighters wish they'd written: Catchy, lusty and sleekly
propulsive, it finds teenage-crush object Adam Lazzara telling a lady to "have your way
