Electric Delta Blues takes Fred McDowell's hypnotic, repeated figure bottleneck guitar style and combines it with a rhythm section (acoustic bass and drums) that lurches and swings like a rusty axe. Though this has been done before (and will be done again), this combo seems to have just the right kind of loose-limbed feel to pull it off. Vocals have a slurred, almost out of control quality that is completely appropriate for the music.
