Tenor Saw

About

While digital rhythms were just beginning to take over in the early '80s, Tenor Saw went and released massive Dancehall hit "Ring the Alarm" over a smooth, decidedly un-digital, Dub-like groove recorded by organist Ansel Collins. His soulful vocals switched between a stinging twang and a smooth whisper, gliding over many hits (including "Fever" and "Pumpkin Belly") before his unfortunate death in 1988.
