Critics don't obsesses over Ned Oldham the way they do his brother Will (aka Bonnie "Prince" Billy), but maybe they should; Ned's group the Anomoanon is one of indie rock's better folk-oriented outfits. Steeped in early '70s Neil Young and Grateful Dead, Asleep Many Years in the Wood's contemplative tempos and subtle use of twang also betray a love for Midwest country rockers like Pure Prairie League and Mason Proffit.
