The Avett Brothers

The Avetts are often tagged as indie hipsters playing old timey folk, but that's unfair and inaccurate. The Second Gleam, part two of the brothers' forays into acoustic balladry, continues to expose their roots in Ozark rock a la Pure Prairie League and Brewer & Shipley. We're talking earnest dudes oozing classic Caucasian soul. And like them Ozarks, they're a blend of the South, Appalachia and the Great Plains. This is real heartland music, especially the electric version of "The Greatest Sum."
