The Byrds

The majority of the Byrds' live albums date from the group's 1969-'71 incarnation. That's because they were a concert beast first and foremost. In fact, they should be mentioned alongside the Dead and the Allmans as one of the jam bands. Royal Albert Hall beats the previously released Live at the Fillmore in both sound quality and performance. Sounding giddy to be playing London, the Byrds soar from folk rock to cosmic country. They even turn "Mr. Tambourine Man" into progressive bluegrass.
