The Dead 60s

About

In the spring of 2005, when Liverpool's the Dead 60s released their eponymous debut LP, the English scene was awash with young bands paying homage to the classic punk era. But while contemporaries Razorlight chose to name themselves after Johnny Rotten's preferred brand of padlock, the Dead 60s borrowed something more substantial to create a breathless, urban, ska-based stomp that fans of the Clash will find unmistakable. In 2004, the four-piece first grabbed headlines as an impressive live act on tours supporting the Thrills, Morrissey and Kasabian. This success earned them a foray to the U.S. that culminated in an appearance at KROQ's Weenie Roast and the release of their debut full-length, The Dead 60s. Summer 2005 saw them juggle a heroic return to the U.K. for the outdoor festival circuit, with support billing on the Bravery's U.S. tour.
