The Equals

  • Genre: Soul
  • Hometown: London

About

The Equals were a group who came out of South London in the late 1960s and were mainly known for their hit "Baby Come Back." The majority of the group were originally from the Caribbean, which added an island flavor to their fun, light '60s pop rhythms. Although the band released over half a dozen records in their time, they never rose above a footnote in music history. It was lead singer Eddy Grant who would revive interest in the band when he hit the electro-pop goldmine with his hit "Electric Avenue" in 1982.
