Dark and moody New York art rock offers healthy nods to the Bad Seeds -- and unhealthy nods to the bad habits often found behind closed doors of the band's lower East Side neighborhood. The Gunga Din's songs are seductive, strung-out musings of sinister sexuality and pseudo-intellectual lyrical composition. Medicated male and female vocals come together to approximate the seedy vibe of an old-time European cabaret act.
