Although the members of the High Strung knew each other from their early school years in Detroit, it wasn't until they were in college that they began taking music seriously. Regular gigging in and around the Detroit area garnered the foursome a substantial following, prompting the band to release a handful of material to sell at their shows. Eventually, the High Strung moved to New York where they soaked up pre-punk vibes like a sponge. TeePee Records appreciated the way the High Strung added a touch of MC 5 to their Fab 4-influenced sound and offered the guys a recording contract. These Are Good Times was unleashed on an appreciative, garage rock revival public in 2003.
