The Innocence Mission

Listening to this Zen-like disc of pensive, rainy-day storytelling, it's hard to imagine this Pennsylvanian trio as anything but innocent. Through simplified arrangements and delicate production, the Innocence Mission manage to make tales of yearning, loss and long-distance love sound contentedly sweet and pleasant. Gentle piano, feather-light acoustic plucks and barely-there drums are guided by vocalist Karen Peris, who sounds like a shy pixie emerging from her shell. We Walked in Song is a perfect companion for lazy days and lonesome nights.
