The Mole

The Mole perfected his fusion of disco, house and techno in his live sets, blending laptop performance with spinning vinyl. That might explain why his music sounds so alive, with its slowly evolving beats and hypnotic, filtered loops that seem to have a mind of their own. The Mole -- Colin de la Plante, a Canadian in Berlin -- clearly looks to Theo Parrish and Moodymann, but with less jazz and more minimal house in the mix, the Mole's collages lie in sharper relief. While its tracks were made with dancefloors in mind, the album entrances all on its own.
