On this eclectic album, the Sleepy Jackson prove that it's very possible to embrace myriad musical styles while retaining one's own individual steez. With just the right amount of pompous pretension prancing around their cinematic pop realm, they sound like Supergrass in powdered wigs ("Devil Was in My Yard"), Motown on helium ("You Won't Bring People Down in My Town") and Mercury Rev at an early '80s disco ("God Lead Your Soul").
