The Teeth

The fusions of this Philadelphia band are as impressive as they are unexpected – the group poses as pub-rocking punks with ears on Billy Bragg on the opening "So Long," Nuggets box revivalists on "Oh Bessie!", and sardonic freak folk rockers on "Mercy Mercy Pudding Pie." It's a whole lot of ground to cover in a six-song release, but the band pulls off its clever imitations with such panache as to sound wholly inventive.
