Throbbing Gristle

The T.G. legacy is caked with industrial sleaze. In 1979, however, the band ditched the grimy feedback of its first two albums for proto-electro dance grooves and boy, was it ultra-catchy stuff. And ironically enough, 20 Jazz Funk Greats just might be Throbbing Gristle's most ominous-sounding record. Although it threatens sonic violence at every turn (electronic blips cry like dying kittens), T.G. deliver nothing but well-sculpted avant pop. Who knew ugly could be so beautiful?
