Throw Me The Statue

About

Throw Me the Statue is a breezy indie pop band that veers off into power pop and folk. Think Belle & Sebastian meets the Shins as interpreted by Robert Pollard and Ben Gibbard. Behind it all is the multi-tasking DIY musician Scott Reitherman, whose instrumentation includes drum machines, synthesizers, guitars and even the occasional glockenspiel. Though the Seattle-based musician primarily sticks to being a one-man band, for 2008's Moonbeams he called on the support of Pedro the Lion's Casey Foubert and Sufjan Stevens' backing band. While Reitherman has been self-releasing material since 2004 on his own label, Baskerville Hill Records, Moonbeams is his first for Secretly Canadian.
