By the time Thursday's 2000 indie debut record saw rerelease in 2006, the band's popularity had declined since its major label debut, 2003's War All the Time. Nevertheless, Waiting is a fascinating document of emo in its adolescence (case in point: track three, aka "Ian Curtis"). Having as much in common with emo progenitors like Braid as latecomers such as A Simple Plan, the album lacks the sheen of what the genre would become, but isn't as gritty or urgent as that from which it sprang. Heck, there's even a few acoustic guitars and violins here. An interesting listen.
