About

In a time before Britney's new breasts and Christina's beadazzled bellbottoms, Teen Beat ruled the county fairs and shopping malls in a magical kingdom called the 1980s. While Madonna was the reigning queen of this mainstream landscape, her lace gloves and boy-toy attitude were a little aggressive for some girls still discovering how to apply their pink and blue eye shadow. Enter dueling pop princesses Debbie Gibson and Tiffany, who made innocent music for sweet young things. Fifteen-year-old Tiffany's self-titled debut (1987), featuring the hit single "I Think We're Alone Now," went quadruple platinum; her follow-up Hold an Old Friend's Hand went platinum. After that, Tiffany practically disappeared without a trace in either Bop, YM or Seventeen. The singer reemerged recently for the new millennium, driving her music straight down the middle of the road with Color of Silence.
