Todos Tus Muertos

About

One of the most schizophrenic, energetic rock outfits to ever come out of Argentina, Todos Tus Muertos embodied all the fury and passionate politics of the generation that came of age just as the Argentine dictatorship finally fell apart. The band was founded around 1985, arising from the ashes of the underground punk act Los Laxantes. After1986's self-released Noches Agitadas en el Cementario, the group's self-titled major label debut came out in 1988, featuring searing songs that swung between reggae and Afro-Latin rhythms and furious punk rock breakdowns -- a formula which would win them fans across Latin America and in the U.S. (including the members of Rage Against the Machine and Foo Fighters). In 1992 lead singer Felix Gutierrez and bassist Horacio Villafane teamed up with Mano Negra to help record the seminal Mano Negra album Casa Babylon. Mano Negra lead singer Manu Chao returned the favor, collaborating with TTM on their 1994 release Dale Aborigen, which also included guest turns by members of los Autenticos Decadents and los Fabulosos Cadillacs. Though the band's been relatively quiet since 1998's El Camino Real, in recent years, they have reunited for a few live dates, much to fans' delight.
