Tracy Bonham

Tracy Bonham's third release flirts with everything from random-lyric-generator pop ("I Was Born Without You") to left-of-center, downtempo-damaged singer-songwriter stuff ("And The World Had the Nerve To Keep Turning"). Guess which we like better? When she lets herself get a little weird, she sounds fantastic.

This classically trained Boston singer-songwriter is doing just fine, having escaped the
major-label shark pool: She makes tuneful alt-rock with a ponderous side, and her third
album is just odd enough to get by, as Bonham sets meandering Aimee Mann-like melodies
over bright electro-pop, string-laden folk and synth-y atmospherics.
