Triffids

About

Ignited by the fire of early punk, the Triffids came together in Western Australia in 1976 changing sound as frequently as it did band members. The band, David McComb (vocals, guitar), brother Robert McComb (violin, guitar), Jill Birt (keys), Alsy MacDonald (drums) and "Evil" Graham Lee (pedal steel guitar) left Perth for Sydney and eventually generated enough interest in their sound to warrant a move to London in 1985. The Triffids made the cover of the N.M.E. twice, but the band's real stronghold was in such places as Belgium, Holland, France and Scandinavia, where they routinely played in front of huge festival crowds. After three highly-acclaimed albums, the band was frustrated by their still-empty bank accounts, and in 1989, the Triffids called it a day. Live in Stockholm
