Arguably the most under-appreciated member of the original Wu-Tang Clan, U-God finally hits with his solo debut. After six years and a seemingly endless flow of other Wu-related releases, Golden Arms is ready to shine. On the lead single "Bizarre," he drops knowledge with his signature flows lacing heavy beats, funky hand drums, and a soulful vocal sample. Fifteen cuts deep, Golden Arms Redemption features collaborations with Wu brethren Meth, Rae, and the Rebel INS as well as Leatha Face and Hell Razah. Production tasks are handled by the RZA, True Master, Deck, John The Baptist, and several up-and-coming beatmakers. Whether this album will actually redeem U-God remains to be seen, but for those who recall his darts on other Wu albums, Lucky Hands is an emcee who deserves another listen.
