For some reason, Urusei Yatsura (from Scotland) never reached the level of success they should have. Writing amazingly catchy Indie Rock songs that leaned on feedback, vocal slack and the Mary Chain side of noise, they were young folks with a lot of enthusiasm for the four-track ethic. After having to change their name to Yatsura (their former moniker was taken from a Japanese comic book -- you'd think they'd have known better, with fellow Scots Captain America having to change their name to Eugenius), the band continued to unleash blistering howls and cries from a lovingly abused set of amplifiers, as well as other songs dynamically embellished with the kinetic chirps, loops and surreal sounds of various children's toys. Theirs is ideal music to accompany a revolutionary youth movement, if something like that ever happens again.
