The View

The View can't decide if they want to be the next Gallagher brothers or the next Pete Doherty, musically speaking; we hope the young Scots realize that the arguing band/train-wreck singer fad is so passe. Their debut pinpoints such Brit influences as the Buzzcocks and the Clash. The result is a jumble of old-school punk and modern rock, but the album's array of personalities is more of an amiable attribute than a hindrance. You never know when they'll bust out a brawny guitar solo, break into a cutesy pop melody or punk out like their rocker forefathers.
